SAP Data Migration Specialist

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced SAP Data Migration Specialist to support SAP implementation and system upgrade projects. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in data migration processes across multiple SAP modules, including SD (Sales & Distribution), CS (Customer Service), PM (Plant Maintenance), MM (Materials Management), and FICO (Finance & Controlling).

This role involves planning, executing, and managing complex data migration activities, ensuring high data accuracy, integrity, and consistency throughout the migration process.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data migration strategies for SAP SD, CS, PM, MM, and FICO modules
• Analyze legacy system data and map it to SAP data structures
• Design and create data migration templates using MS Excel
• Perform data cleansing, transformation, and validation using advanced Excel functions
• Develop data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes
• Use SAP migration tools such as LSMW (Legacy System Migration Workbench) and other SAP data upload methods
• Perform data validation, reconciliation, and integrity checks
• Develop custom programs or scripts for data conversion when required
• Conduct data migration testing and integration testing
• Collaborate with functional consultants and business stakeholders to ensure data meets business requirements
• Maintain documentation for data migration processes and mappings
• Provide training and support to client teams on migration activities
• Troubleshoot and resolve data migration issues
• Ensure data consistency and compliance with security and privacy standards

Required Experience

• 6 – 8 years of experience in SAP data migration projects
• Strong knowledge of SAP data structures and tables for SD, CS, PM, MM, and FICO modules
• Expertise in SAP migration tools such as LSMW, SAP BDC, and custom data migration programs
• Strong experience with SQL and database management
• Familiarity with ETL processes and tools
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Technical Skills

• SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA
• SAP LSMW (Legacy System Migration Workbench)
• SQL and database management
• Advanced MS Excel for data manipulation
• ABAP programming (for data migration scripts) – plus
• Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager for project documentation

Additional Skills (Preferred)

• Experience with SAP HANA migration projects
• Knowledge of industry-specific data requirements (manufacturing, sales, material management)
• Understanding of data governance principles
• Experience with data quality management tools
